1957 - A new wing of classrooms!

Built on either side of the corridor built in 1954, the new north wing (green) of classrooms included a some new science labs and storage (Rooms 3, 5 & 6) as well as a new main office. The old Room 7 became a guidance office and the old Room 6 became Room 7.

There were also eight new classrooms upstairs which were joined to the original school near room 47.

Here is an aerial view of the north wing of the school. When first built, classrooms on the outside of the school had a view of Wellington Avenue.

Classes of the fifties and early sixties were the last to use the south west entrance (red door, left). The south west corner of the school, part of the original building, would soon be torn down to make room for yet some more classrooms. Choose "Continue" (below) to see the changes made to the school in 1964.

This "fish-eye" picture from the 1970 yearbook gives a good look at the north wing of classrooms as well as the small door to the left of the gym entry.

This view from an upstairs window shows the erection shed.

This picture is actually taken in 1977 when the excavation of the north field made way for the new gym and industrial arts wing. Nevertheless, it is one of the best available pictures of the north wing of classrooms before the lower set of windows was covered by the above named renovation.
