Our first morning on the cruise we explored the shops on the ship and then attended a lecture on traditional Chinese medicine. Shortly after, around 10:00 a.m., we docked and hopped on a bus with our local tour guide, Simon. We went to Baling Square where there was a huge statue of an archer killing a snake. Legend says that the snake sank ships in the Yangtze River so (of course) someone needed to "slay the dragon". More...

The lakeside had some lovely paths following the shore. People were walking, playing with babies, and one man had turtles which we weren't sure were lunch or maybe pets?
We went to Bian He Street to barter for goods including a variety of candies. One man could be seen pulling a taffee like mixture. Another was creating sugar by pouring a toffee like mixture into different shapes. Many of us stopped at a family's stand because they gave away free samples so you could try before you buy.
On board ship once again, we attended the scarf tying demonstration. Later we dressed up for the Captain's welcome dinner. Although many attended a Crew Cabaret Show around 9, I was too tired to attend so... no pix, folks!!
