HONG KONG -- RETURN HOME

Did I mention that our hotel in Hong Kong was super terrific? On our last day in China, our flight did not leave until 5 p.m. or so. Check out time for the hotel was around noon. Just enough time to make use of the hotel's facilities. More...

Alma and I got up early (but not TOO early) for breakfast then made our way to the pool and recreation area. This area which was on the 9th floor was pretty darn spectacular. There was an outdoor infinity pool (which we both made use of) as well as an indoor one which was closed for cleaning. The walls of the indoor pool were made of glass and the water level for that pool was above the outdoor one, making it quite neat to swim beside. From the pool, there was a spectacular view of the Towers. You could see a walkway between the two towers (hotel and business tower) and I wondered on which floor that was. Upon investigating, it was on the 41st floor (where we always had to change elevators to go up to your room) but I'd not noticed it before because it was blocked off with a wooden wall, lock and key. After cleaning up and returning our room key around noon, we went to City Place 2 for lunch. We found a couple of interesting restaurants BUT neither one of them was open. We ended up going back to City Place to eat at the hot dog place we'd eaten at the previous night. After lunch, Roberta, Alma and I Played cards in the hotel's lobby. We were pretty giddy by then. Alma and I kept trying to convince different people to use up our change to buy US a treat from one of the neighbouring malls. We felt really guilty when Kathy brought us back treats from the 7-11 but paid for them herself. Perhaps it was best that we had a BIT of small denominations left. It allowed both of us to "top up" our Octopus Cards when we cashed them in at the airport. Soon it was time to say goodbye to Robert, a guide most extrodanaire AND... it was TIME TO FLY HOME!!!
