We woke up very early to fly from ZhengZhou to Shanghai Airport. Upon arrival, we were met by our local guide, Rocky. We hopped on the bus and took a two hour drive to Suzhou. There we visited the Liu (Lingering) Garden and the city's local canal. More...

The Liu Garden was created as a private garden consisting of buildings, a pond area and a small hill. Although not a huge place, there are enough twists and turns on its paths to make you believe you're in a much bigger area. Window openings frame different parts of the garden making these views seem like pictures in frames. My favourite area was the Bonzai garden and my favourite entertainment was the piper who played as he was transported across the pond on a barge.
We also visited a local area along the city's canal. Evidently Suzhou is considered the "Venice of China". Having visited Venice, I'm not sure I'd agree with that description but the area was still very pretty and the local market and even the traffic was quite interesting.
