October 8th, Part 2

Previous --- Design & Pictures by BJH --- NEXT

When we woke up on the 8th, it was raining and there was thunder and lightning. Not exactly the type of day you want to go for a rickshaw ride. HOWEVER... by the time we got to the rickshaw stands, although a dull day, it wasn't raining. More...

My pictures start with a sampling of what types of things we've been eating for breakfast. We stopped by the man made lake. From there we walked past some interesting places (one being a sports performance school). We tried to say "good morning" in Chinese to our rickshaw driver but we didn't do such a good job. He spent a few minutes coaching us. As he pedalled along, he greeted people and even got into a "battle of the rickshaw drivers" with a younger driver behind us. We stopped at the lake for a few photos then continued through the neighbourhood.
Next we visited a pearl factory before stopping elsewhere for lunch. After we finished lunch, it was off to the Summer Palace. I would have wanted to be related to the emperor because that place was totally awesome.
